This photo the North Manchester Covered Bridge was purchased with a collection of original photos which contained images used in "Covered Bridges on the Byways of Indiana" by Bryan Ketcham. There are no markings on this photo of any kind, however, I would surmise that this is an "alternate" view taken by Mr. Ketcham that did not make it into his publication. Long out of print, an unused copy of his book is available and though it does not contain this particular image, it is an exceptional work that any Indiana covered bridge enthusiast should have in their collection; click on the book cover icon in the lower left corner of this page for more information -- the photographed published in Mr. Ketcham's book, shows the east side and therefore a clear view of the makeshift walkway, which from this view looks less substantial ... if this photo was taken at the same time as the one in the book it would be June 22, 1948.
