phriam Bowen and his wife Hannah were one of the first
settlers to move into Randolph County and had a farm close to Spartansburg
where they are buried with six generations of Bowen's. Grandfather Ephriam
lived in harmony with the Miami Indian Tribe and often traded goods with
them. One account had him, at the Miami's request, procure a bunch of honey
for them in exchange for a deer the Indians shot and brought to him the next
day.
