ervilla Isabelle Batchelor was born on 11 May 1870 in Bloomingsport, Randolph County, Indiana. She was the daughter of Joseph Woodford Batchelor (twin to Asa Elvington Batchelor) and Nancy Catharine Davis.

Servilla's ancestors came from England and were of the Quaker religion. Her family can be traced back to William Batchelor from England.

William Batchelor, Richard Berry and John Biggs were arrested and punished in England, in the year of 1648 for being Quakers. It's assumed that they were deported or fled for religious reasons. William arrived in Virginia on 21 Dec. 1648 on the North side of the Yorke River.

Servilla had a son with Elmer Elsworth Chamness. He was born 27 Dec. 1889 in Indiana. It is unclear whether or not Servilla and Elmer were married. They went their separate ways sometime before 1891.

On 20 Aug. 1891, Servilla married John Wesley Phillips in Wayne County, Indiana. To this union nine children were born. Two died at just eight hours old and they were twins. Servilla and John's children were: Nancy Catharine, Clifford Leander, Floyd Charles, John Burtchel, Mary Anavelle, Mamie (twin), Clay (twin), Elizabeth Irene and Russell Albert.

Servilla passed away on 25 Aug. 1921. She is buried at South Cemetery in Greensfork, Wayne County, Indiana.
