About the 1888 Overview Map

For lack of a better description, I'm calling the map from "Appletons' Atlas of the United States," published by D. Appleton and Company in 1888, an "overview" because it was very small and thus contained minimal detail. However, it does show the transportation routes of the day and is interesting to view. On this site the map has been used to show this county's relationship to its neighboring counties and is presented in the "Our Neighbors Map" menu selection.
