 ohn B. Connor served as State Statistician from 1892-1901.
He was a prominent newspaper man, and with his brothers Richard A. Conner
and others founded the paper that became the Banner and later the
Plain Dealer and Sun. Richard A. Conner also served as State
Librarian from 1877-79. John B. and Richard A. were among 13 children of
Willoughby and Rachel Conner, among the early settlers of Butlerville area
of Jennings County (1820).
