INDIANA COVERED BRIDGE SOCIETY

On October 10th, 2007, the $1.4 Million restoration of the Jackson Covered Bridge in Parke County was officially completed and open to the public with a ribbon cutting ceremony. The participants were County Highway Superintendent Randy Norman as well as County Commissioners Jim Meece and Greg Harbison; photo by Ron Branson.

Of more than 600 covered historic bridges known to have been built in Indiana, 90 are still standing. Some of these still carry traffic while others are bypassed and a few have been moved to parks or memorials; five of our historic covered bridges are located on private property.
