Evansville, Indiana, Horizontal 1 History Print

There are scores of early Evansville postcards, and several of them, naturally, depict Ohio River scenes. Some of those river scenes are included in this print. The print also includes postcard scenes showing horses and buggies, trolleys, bicycles and pedestrians. Building signs are visible and readable in some of the street scenes. The mail company advertisement lists the “James Guthrie,” “Grey Eagle,” and “Rainbow” as the “…fine, fast and new steamers.” Jos. Schaeffer offered his services at No. 1 Lower Fifth Street, while the Becker brothers maintained their wagons and buggies business at 816 W. Pennsylvania Street. The “Indiana Post” newspaper was “published weekly and Sunday, $2.00 per annum.” Ernst Wilkom was the proprietor. The following is a list of all the images that are a part of this print.
