MILL CREEK COVERED BRIDGE

The Mill Creek Covered Bridge, also known as the Tow Path Covered Bridge, crosses Mill Creek about 2 miles southwest of Tangier on County Road 550 West, just north of County Road 925 North, in Section 19, Township 17 North, and Range 8 West, Parke County. This single span Burr Arch Truss structure has a length of 92 feet, or 112 feet including the 10-foot overhang at each end, is 15 feet wide and 13 feet high. Built in 1907 by D. M. Brown, the Mill Creek Covered Bridge was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1978. Mill Creek Covered Bridge is listed in the 1989 "World Guide to Covered Bridges," published by The National Society for the Preservation of Covered Bridges, Inc., as #14-61-29; however, the designation used by Parke County officials is #14-61-31. |
