The Darlington Covered Bridge crosses Sugar Creek, just west of the Town of Darlington, in Section 7, Township 19 North, and Range 3 West, Montgomery County. This double span Howe Truss structure has a length of 166 feet, or 180 feet including the 7-foot overhang at each end, is 17 feet wide and 13 feet high. Constructed of oak and poplar, with limestone abutments, the structure was built in 1860 by Joseph Kress, with Richard M. Epperson acting as Construction Superintendent, and funded in part by donations from local citizens amounting to $1,585. A unique characteristic of this particular structure is the use of end cuts to form pavement across the planks. The road bypassed this structure in 1976 and it was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1990. The Darlington Covered Bridge was listed as #14-54-01 in the 1977 World Guide.
