The Johnson Covered Bridge, also known as the Bell Covered
Bridge, is no longer standing
it crossed Beanblossom Creek in Section
8, Township 9 North, and Range 1 West, Monroe County. This single span Howe
Truss structure had a length of 160 feet, or 174 feet including the 7-foot
overhang at each end, with a portal clearance 15 feet wide by 13 feet 6 inches
high. Built in 1881 by Thomas A. Hardman, the Johnson Covered Bridge was
listed in the World Guide as #14-53-02 (according to G. Gould's 1977 list)
and was lost in 1964.
