| The Traders Point Covered Bridge originally crossed Fishback Creek near
the community of Traders Point in Marion County. Built by Josiah Durfee in
1880, construction of Interstate 65 necessitated its removal and on July
14, 1960, it was moved to the D. W. Brown Farm nearby. This single span Howe
Truss structure is 88 feet long, or 108 feet including the 10-foot overhang
at each end, is 14 feet wide and 13 feet high. Many of the old pictures of
this structure show its unique character as there was a large set of antlers
mounted over the portal. The Traders Point Covered Bridge is the last of
the old covered bridges still standing in Marion County and was listed as
#14-49-01 in the 1972 World Guide; according to G. Gould's 1977 list this
identifier once belonged to the Southport Covered Bridge while Traders Point
Covered Bridge was identified by Gould as #14-49-07.
