This map was extracted from the 1969 publication "Covered Bridges of Indiana," and was prepared by the Indiana State Highway Commission, Office of Highway Development, Long Range Planning Section. The Purple Dots indicate the location of a bridge that existed when the map was made but is no longer standing

Original Location of the New Brownsville Bridge -- In 1986 this structure was moved from Union County to Mill Race Park in Columbus, Bartoholmew County. I believe the original location of this bridge was on the New Brownsville Road and perhaps crossed one of the creeks feeding the East Fork of the Whitewater River  ... click here to visit ... Any feedback or information about this bridge would be appreciated.

The article "Covered Bridges in Indiana" by Robert B. Yule and Richard C. Smith, February 1938 Indiana History Bulletin, notes that Union County had 5 Covered Bridges ... in this document we have only identified 4 that correspond with this article. I would appreciate any information you can share not only on the bridges listed herein, but also those that have not yet been identified.
