The Postlewaite Covered Bridge is no longer standing
it crossed the Patoka River on or near County Road 715, Section 11, Township
2 South, Range 6 West, just northwest of Duff, Dubois County. This single
span, early style Burr Arch Truss structure, had vertical timbers flared
slightly outward at the top and a length of 108 feet, or 114 feet including
the 3-foot overhang at each end, with a portal clearance 12 feet wide by
11 feet 6 inches high. Built in 1872, perhaps by William T. Washer, the
Postlewaite Covered Bridge was listed in the World Guide (according to G.
Gould's 1977 list) as #14-19-02, and lost in 1953.
