The Kessner's Covered Bridge is no longer standing
it crossed the Patoka River in Sections 7 and 18, Township 2 South, Range
5 West, on Kessner's Bridge Road near its intersection with Ell Creek Road
just northwest of Huntingburg, Dubois County. This single span Burr Arch
Truss structure had a length of 156 feet, or 160 feet including the 2-foot
overhang at each end, with a portal clearance 14 feet wide by 12 feet high.
Built in 1877, perhaps by William T. Washer, Kessner's Covered Bridge was
listed in the World Guide (according to G. Gould's 1977 list) as #14-19-01,
and lost in 1965.
