The Woodville Covered Bridge is no longer standing
it crossed Rock Creek in Sections 35 and 35, Township 26 North, and Range
1 West, Carroll County. This Smith Truss structure had a length of 84 feet
and was erected on this site by the Wheelock Bridge Company about 1881 after
first being assembled at Toledo. Apparently Robert W. Smith, owner of the
Smith Truss patent, appeared in person to bid on the contract for construction
of the Woodville Covered Bridge, the execution of which was turned over to
the Wheelock Bridge Company. The Woodville Covered Bridge was listed as #14-08-10
in the World Guide (according to G. Gould's 1977 list) and the date of its
demise is unknown.
