The Washington Street Covered Bridge is no longer standing
it crossed Deer Creek in Section 29, Township 25 North, and Range
2 West, Delphi, Carroll County. This structure was built about 1840 and a
walk way was added in 1872. For a time, at least, the bridge had kerosene
lamps at each end, as a local boy named Caesar Margowski was paid $1 a week
to light them every night. The Washington Street Covered Bridge was listed
as #14-08-06 in the World Guide (according to G. Gould's 1977 list) and was
lost in 1893.
