The Haw Creek Covered Bridge, later known as the Sand Creek or sometimes the Reddington Covered Bridge, is no longer standing it originally crossed Haw Creek in Section 30, Township 9 North, and Range 6 East, on the southeast edge of Columbus, Bartholomew County. In the 1890's this 134-foot long Howe Truss structure was moved near Azalia, where it crossed Sand Creek, on or near County Road East 800 South. In 1935 a 96-foot iron span was added and the covered span was finally lost in 1941. George Gould identified a World Guide number of 14-03-04 for the Haw Creek Covered Bridge in his book "Indiana Covered Bridges Thru the Years," published in 1977 by the Indiana Covered Bridge Society, Inc. In the February 1938 "Indiana History Bulletin" Robert B. Yule and Richard C. Smith assigned the designation "sr-c" to this Covered Timber Bridge located (secondly) in Section 11, Township 7 North, and Range 6 East, 1-1/2 miles south of Azalia.
