WEST MAIN STREET COVERED BRIDGE

The West Main Street Covered Bridge is no longer standing it crossed the St. Mary's River in Allen County. Built in 1864 by Hall & Kimball, this structure was lost in 1878. The 1868 publication by the Chicago Lithograph Co., titled Birds Eye View of Fort Wayne, shows this covered bridge as a double span structure. George Gould identified a World Guide number of 14-02-06 for the West Main Street Covered Bridge in his book "Indiana Covered Bridges Thru the Years," published in 1977 by the Indiana Covered Bridge Society, Inc. The structure was located in Section 2, Township 30 North, and Range 12 East, one block from the Aqueduct Covered Bridge.
