GENEVA COVERED BRIDGE

Info.

The Geneva Covered Bridge is no longer standing … it crossed the Wabash River in Adams County and was most likely located in Congressional Township 25 North, Range 14 East, Section 28, about one mile east of Geneva. Although the Wabash River has shifted in this area of the state, the addition of a reservoir and subsequent elimination of old roads complicate efforts to determine where this structure would have stood; I believe that latitude 40°35'39.80"N and longitude 84°56'45.85"W are approximately correct after consulting an 1876 map of the area. Built sometime after 1874, and known to still be standing in 1910, the actual date of its demise is unknown and it is commonly identified numerically as 14-01-08.

The red star on the small map above represents the approximate location of this structure. Click on this map to view an interactive presentation showing the location of all Adams County covered bridges.
