USS Indiana, Battleship (BB-50) History
Act of 4 March 1917:

"._._. Of the vessels autyhorized in the 'Act ._._.' approved August twenty-ninth, nineteen hundred and sixteen, the construction of the following vessels shall be bugun as soon as practicable at a cost exclusive of armor and armament not to exceed the following amounth" Three battleships, $15,000,000 each;. ._._."

Indiana (BB-50) was laid down by the New York Navy Yard 1 November 1920, but her construction was cancled 8 February 1922 in accordance with the terms of the Washington Treaty for naval limitation.
